Karon, Phuket // Day Four // Review // Chanalai Hillside Resort

Day 4 is move-house day as we shifted from Nai Harn to Karon.

Our tuk tuk driver picked us up and we were soon at our hotel for the next 2 nights. Karon is completely different from Nai Harn. Nai Harn is a more secluded area with fewer restaurants while Karon is the opposite.

We have always wanted to visit Karon as it was next to Kata and we had enjoyed our stay in Kata previously. We wanted to know what are the differences and which area suited us more.

Check-in took awhile as our room was not ready yet. However, the kind staff handed us chilled towels and drinks as the weather was relatively hot._DSC4951eThe first impression we got from our room is rather pleasant, especially when the sunrays are radiating over from our balcony.

There was a small serving of fruits which the resort provided and a welcome note attached. A small but heartwarming gesture indeed.

The toilet had a clean bathtub and I liked how they allocated another area for shower. I’ve always hated climbing in and out of the bathtub just to shower and I think it can be pretty dangerous if the floors are wet.

(+) Cleanliness

The room, swimming pools, and facilities were well taken care of and they were never faulty. Also, we often saw the hotel staff mopping the lobby floors.

(+) Service

The hotel staffs were always friendly and eager to assist in our queries. We had no problems communicating with them as well as they spoke good English.

(-) Location

The hotel is slightly further away from restaurants and Karon beach. However, in exchange, you receive your peace and serenity.

(-) Price

While we understand that January is peak season in Phuket, $60+ USD per night without breakfast inclusive isn’t exactly cheap Furthermore, the location itself can be a hassle for those who wish to stay nearer to the beach.

(+) Bonus: Massage!

There is a massage parlor opposite the hotel and it was soooooo good! Both of us really enjoyed our massage and fell asleep as our masseurs were so skillful and managed to knead on each acupoint accurately using the correct force.
